Leadership shouldn’t feel this heavy

The work is hard but leadership shouldn’t feel like constant friction.
This short assessment shows how your leadership instinct shifts under pressure, where that creates unnecessary strain, and what to do next.

Take the Leadership Tension Assessment

The assessment takes about 15 minutes. You’ll get results immediately, plus the option to book a free 60-minute debrief. This is not a personality test or a scorecard of your leadership ability. It’s a diagnostic tool I’ve developed to help you get an understanding of how you lead when it counts.

Most leadership advice misses the moment that actually matters

You already know how to lead when things are going well. The problem arises when things get noisy:

  • Deadlines compress.

  • Context is missing.

  • People are stressed.

  • The room gets political.

  • The stakes feel personal.

That’s when your leadership goes on autopilot. Autopilot is not wrong, but it can create friction:

  • You stabilize when what’s needed is a decision.

  • You push when what’s needed is clarity.

  • You carry everyone when what’s needed is a stronger system.

This is what I mean by Leadership Tension. It’s the hidden mismatch between how you lead under pressure and how you lead when you’re grounded.

This assessment shows two versions of your leadership

Default Mode
(Under Pressure)

When things feel tense, overloaded, or high-stakes, you instinctively move into a familiar leadership mode.
This is the version of you that keeps things from getting worse.

The gap between those two is where exhaustion, overfunctioning, and stalled progress usually live.

Grounded Mode
(When You’re Clear)

When you have enough space, support, and clarity, a different leadership style shows up.
This is the version of you that feels sustainable and effective.

The Five Leadership Archetypes

Leaders carry all five archetypes in them to different degrees, but typically have one archetype that is their most authentic leadership style and a second archetype that is their default, or learned leadership style that shows up under pressure. Expand each section below to learn how each archetype shows up and what it brings to the work.

  • What this archetype brings
The Anchor brings calm, containment, and a steady presence. This leadership energy keeps teams from panicking and helps people feel safe enough to think clearly.

How it shows up under pressure
Under pressure, the Anchor prioritizes stability above all else. Decisions may slow, urgency gets softened, and momentum can stall in service of keeping things from escalating.

How it shows up when grounded
When grounded, the Anchor creates a calm environment where action can happen without chaos. Steadiness becomes a foundation for progress, not a substitute for it.

  • What this archetype brings
The Architect brings structure, process, and durable design. This leadership energy reduces friction by fixing root causes instead of relying on heroics.

How it shows up under pressure
Under pressure, the Architect may over-design or tighten control. Structure becomes a way to manage uncertainty rather than a support for people and progress.

How it shows up when grounded
When grounded, the Architect builds systems that make work easier. Structure carries the load so people do not have to.

  • What this archetype brings
The Catalyst brings energy, decisiveness, and forward motion. This leadership energy prevents stagnation and keeps work from getting stuck in endless discussion.

How it shows up under pressure
Under pressure, the Catalyst speeds up. Action becomes a way to manage uncertainty, sometimes at the expense of clarity, alignment, or sustainability.

How it shows up when grounded
When grounded, the Catalyst moves with intention. Action is informed by context, and momentum builds without burning people out or creating unnecessary rework.

  • What this archetype brings
The Steward brings empathy, relational awareness, and a deep sense of responsibility for people. This leadership energy builds trust and psychological safety.

How it shows up under pressure
Under pressure, the Steward may over-function for others. Care turns into caretaking, and the leader begins carrying emotional or practical load that should be shared.

How it shows up when grounded
When grounded, the Steward supports people without absorbing everything. Care is paired with clear expectations, shared ownership, and healthy boundaries.

  • What this archetype brings
The Wayfinder brings insight, pattern recognition, and strategic orientation. This leadership energy helps teams understand what matters and why.

How it shows up under pressure
Under pressure, the Wayfinder can stay in sense-making mode too long. Thinking replaces action, and clarity becomes a gatekeeper instead of a guide.

How it shows up when grounded
When grounded, the Wayfinder provides direction that enables movement. Perspective turns into traction, and insight helps others act with confidence.

  • This debrief normally lives inside my paid coaching work.
I’m offering it free because clarity is the fastest way to reduce unnecessary load. If you take the assessment, you will get:

    • Your primary archetype pattern (default mode and grounded mode)

    • The specific tension that tends to show up between those two

    • Language that explains what’s been feeling off, without blaming yourself

    • One or two relief moves you can implement immediately

    • A free 60-minute debrief where we translate insight into action for your real life

  • You don’t need to be a CEO.
You just happen to be the person the work keeps landing on.

This tends to resonate most if:

    • You’re responsible for outcomes you can’t fully control.

    • You’re the “steady one” or the “get it done” one.

    • You’re carrying more emotional or structural load than is sustainable.

    • You’ve outgrown generic leadership advice and want something that fits how you actually operate.
